Russell Holmes, CEO and Founder, Projecis
Russell Holmes is an innovator and entrepreneur. His newest venture is Projecis, a knowledge convergence platform that enables project stakeholders to easily connect, organize and communicate to make critical business decisions and meet goals. Russ utilized his 20 years of experience in the drug industry to capitalize on the need for project management and data integration in clinical research, as well as other industries such as software development and entertainment production. He noticed many projects struggled to reach stated goals due to such factors as lack of effective team communication, timely data alerts, and an inability to track key history for future work consideration. Holmes knew such problems were prevalent in any field with large teams and intricate data (content) collection. With Projecis, Holmes didn't set out to fix a problem but create a solution.
Russ also co-founded Synteract in 1995, a privately held, global contract research organization (CRO) that generates $70 million in revenue annually. He has more than 20 years experience in the clinical research industry and helped Synteract become the leading global CRO that it is today. Holmes directed technology, database services, software development, finance, human resources, and office services while acting as Executive Vice President at Synteract. In 2006, Synteract executed its exit strategy by selling to a private financial investment firm, providing initial investors with a 100-plus multiple return.
Russ previously worked for Pfizer as a Senior Analyst and Gensia as Senior Manager. He holds Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics, as well as a Masters of Business Administration from Sacred Heart University.
Russ is also pursuing various entertainment and software development projects. He currently lives in San Diego, California, and when he isn't busy working on his entrepreneurial pursuits, Holmes enjoys working out, playing basketball and visiting family in Connecticut and New York, where he has a second home. He also contributes to his community by regularly donating to such organizations as the American Red Cross, Troops in Iraq, Adopt-a-family, Juvenile Diabetes and the Mira Mesa Girls' Softball team.
